Two different properties, two very different challenges - but the same goal on both: give the homeowner more usable, good-looking outdoor space that actually holds up over time.
In Saint Paul, we built a natural stone retaining wall along the front of the property. The layered limestone blocks sit tight and level, running the full length of the front yard slope right alongside the concrete steps. It does the heavy lifting of holding back the grade while also looking sharp from the street. Fresh soil is already graded behind it and ready for planting. That combination of function and curb appeal is exactly what a wall like this is supposed to deliver.
Out on Lake Minnetonka, the work was about extending what was already there. We added flagstone patio sections off the back of the home - one tucked right under a covered entry area, and another running the length of the screened porch. That second extension gives the homeowner a clean transition from inside to outside, with a solid stone surface bordered neatly against the lawn. No awkward grass creeping up to the door. No muddy patches after rain.
Natural stone is one of those materials that just gets better with age. It handles Minnesota winters without cracking, fading, or looking worn out. And when it's set right - with proper base prep and clean edging - it stays put. That's the part most people don't see, but it's the part that matters most.
Whether it's a retaining wall fighting a slope problem or a patio extension adding square footage to your outdoor living space, we bring the same level of care to both. Work like this doesn't just look good the week it's done - it holds its value for years.
